A similar problem with me. even after adding the songs to the play list, i cannot see songs in the playlist. The letters are not displayed thats all. I can play songs by double clicking on those empty cells. Cells are alternately coloured. Only problem is that the playlist appears to be using a font which is 100% transparent. (I am using Ubuntu Karmic Koala)

I bumped into this error in a VM image that I hadn’t used for a while (was just trying out F10), and I’m pretty sure there was no fancy setup involved there, i.e. no VNC connection.

At the time I dismissed it as a problem between Fedora and the VM software (VirtualBox) + drivers, but judging by your comment it’s probably not.

I’ve been getting this exact same problem under fedora 10. I think it’s a race condition when multiple desktops are launched. In my case, I have one gnome desktop on the system and one through vncserver. See here:

Killing it doesn’t fix the problem.

So would that be why the multimedia keys, that always worked out of the box for previous versions of gnome/exaile, do not work for me in ubuntu hardy ?
